#FrameItFriday (week 49, season 2)
Aloha (no, I'm not in Hawaii) but a girl can dream right? Speaking of dreams.....I had the privilege of being introduced to an iconic Canadian photographer of all things Rock and Roll Mr. John Rowlands of www.rocknrowlands.com What a thrill for me. We even had an opportunity to speak briefly at the Burton Cummings show at the Sanderson Centre the other evening. I'd like to thank Mike Tutt for taking this picture of John and I and Steve Burchell for telling me where he was. As you can see by the expression on my face I was pretty excited to meet him. He's shot Bowie, Burton Cummings, Linda Rondstadt, James Brown, Bob Marley, the Bee Gees, the Who and the list goes on and on. He also toured with the Dave Clark 5, The Rolling Stones and the Beatles! Oh and he's worked with Elvis, Dylan and Springsteen! Rock royalty at its finest. I happily gushed to him that I had the WHOLE show to shoot Burton (trust me, that's a luxury not usually afforded by photographers at shows). We briefly exchanged "pit stories" my few and his many. I think the best story he shared was the time he had 45 SECONDS to shoot Diana Ross. 45 seconds! He then proceeded to tell me that he was able to take 900, yes 900 shots in that 45 seconds. I was gobsmacked. I mean seriously, imagine culling through those shots. At the end of the 45 seconds the security team tapped him on the elbow and said "time's up". I can't wait until the new year when I'll be able to meet up with him again and see a display of some of his incredible work. It was such a honour to meet and speak to him. He has so many fascinating stories about life as a Rock Photographer I can't wait to hear more! I'd also like to thank Burton Cummings for signing a get well card for me to give to a dear friend who unfortunately is too ill in hospital to attend his show that night. What an incredible week it has been. Who on your bucket list would you LOVE to share a conversation with? Comment below.
Before I go, I have to mention that I'm running low on calendars now but still have a few left....get those orders into me at: heathercards@hotmail.com ASAP so you can get them before Christmas and can crack them open on the 1st day of 2020! I will be unavailable for bookings (with the exception of a few shoots already booked) beginning December 16th right up until the 1st week in January.
