#FrameItFriday (week 41 season 4)
It finally happened, a road trip, a legit one AND I had company, really swell company along with me on the adventure. With a destination in mind (Almonte, Ontario) all 3 of us piled into the car and hopped on the most roller coaster route we could find. It definitely did not disappoint. The weather held up quite stellar as well, that always helps. There were many, many stops along the way, throw on the 4ways and pull off safely to the side of the road. At some points, crunch and bump along a boat launch road and get out for a stretch at the end and be treated with a crystal clear, smooth as glass, windless, silent view of one of Ontario's magnificent lakes and rocky shorelines surrounded by brilliant reds, oranges and yellows. We fully immersed ourselves into our journey and channelled our inner Aunt Eunice (my mom's eldest sister). It's pretty cool to discover how many members of our family have kept on with the tradition of "going down that road because it has a ______________(insert reason here)." Most of the time a road is selected by it's name (quirkier the better), how the road looks on a map (closest to resembling a snake the better) I have come to learn the hard way that those miniature stop signs you pull up to mean you're on an ATV road. I have stopped at many, many tiny stop signs in my travels. Those roads can become pretty sketchy and the underbelly of your car does NOT appreciate them. I'm glad we got out, snagged some beauty shots and had a delicious lunch on the patio of the Barley Mow Almonte and some retail therapy along the cutest main drag of Almonte, Ontario. The best part was to be able to spend some time with some special family members and see some gorgeous scenery. Go ahead, stick your nose up to the phone and sniff that fall air out of the picture. Only a true fall lover will be able to inhale that aroma. It's supposed to be a pretty epic weekend weather wise (fingers crossed) I'm sticking close to home with a teensy family gathering. If you're thinking of doing some fall leaf exploration unless you've already booked a day pass at Algonquin forget about heading up there, it's sold out both days this weekend. Instead there are MANY, MANY AMAZING routes around the area or even close to home that you can catch fall colours first hand and have a safe social distance adventure or short walk while the turkey cooks or to walk off that turkey dinner. Whatever you get up to, be safe and have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend from my family to yours!
