#FrameItFriday (week 38 season 4)
We took advantage of the great weather yesterday and ventured out for a paddle along the Moira River yesterday. "Apparently" according the weather folks, the next few days are going to be stellar for sunshine and heat. In Ontario that is, I'm not sure about elsewhere. I sure hope they're correct because I want to get back out there again. We went from our place downstream to the first bridge (which means absolutely nothing to you unless you know the area) ANYHOW, it's not an incredibly long paddle unless you go with us lol. We were out there for close to 3.5 hours and between my husband and I we took approximately 800 or so images! What???? That's crazy I know but let me esplain por favor, it's all the fault of that bird that has been taunting us since we moved here. Yes, a bird.....a Green Heron to be specific (bet you thought it was going to be a Kingfisher right? Nope not an elusive Kingfisher with it's saucy attitude and hairstyle to match, that's another quest of mine). Ok, where was I? Oh yes, the Green Heron. So we get out on the water and I immediately paddle towards a turtle sunning itself on a log protruding from the water. I always have to check and see what kind it is, this time it was a Paint. There's a trillion of them on this river. In spite of already having over 500 images of this particular type of turtle I sprayed and shot another 10 of him because I'm an image hoarder, whatever. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I spot a Green Heron hunting for his second breakfast on a log not 10 feet away from the Paint turtle. He was so distracted by his hunger he could care less if we were there, throw in NO CURRENT at that part of the river and WHAM, 150 shots later he finally flew off. Made my day! Seriously, it made my day. See, we've had this guy's cousin hanging around our pond. He makes a ruckus when you disturb him from his hiding spot along the pond and it flies off and sulks in the trees beyond the pond. What a grump.
So back to the river and the weather and the turtles....we were all out there for one primary purpose yesterday....to bask in the glory of the warm weather and bright sunshine. Mission accomplished! I sure hope you have an opportunity get your face out in the sunshine that the weather network predicts is going to be here this weekend because, you know, before we know it we'll be bitching about the snow plow driver rumbling past our driveway with a fresh heavy load of icy snow to block our exit. Right? Have a glorious weekend and STAY SAFE!
Peace, love and kumbaya,
Heather
