#FrameItFriday (week 27, season 2)

"Conundrum" def'n: an intricate and difficult problem.

I heard this word earlier this week and it's been stuck in my head ever since. How lucky am I to have had a need to use it today? Lucky? Not sure about that but I sure hope after I've used it here today that becomes unstucketh from mine ear-eth.

The past few weeks have been a bit of a blur of paperwork, phone calls, purging 60 years of my mother's memories interspersed with the thrill of seeing people I haven't seen in years. It's been crazy and I've picked up my camera once that whole time. I've taken a slew of photos on my cell phone mind you and the picture today is one of them.

The photo is of the infamous pump organ that stood in our family's rec my entire life. It was made by W.Bell & Co. in Guelph, Ontario. Like many things I've had to either toss, donate, gift or keep of my mother's things this old relic is the largest of the lot. It's out of the basement for the first time in over 50 years and looks cooler than ever in the light of day. It's no where near as heavy as an upright piano but it takes up the same amount of real estate as one.

I have gone from "I'll take it" to "we'll sell it" to damn it...."I don't know". I mean I can play parts of maybe two songs max on the thing and I did play those tunes on it the other day. The old gal sounds pretty good considering her age. I've put it for sale in the garage sale we are having tomorrow but I've marked it as sold because I really want to keep it. Insert the word: conundrum about here.

The wonderful memories of people pumping the crap out of it over the years and playing mournful tunes on it are playing with my heart and whispering "yes....keep me" into my ears.

Screw it, I'll cart her home with me and store it for a bit until I figure out where she'll rest in our tiny home. Perhaps I'll have to move my bed out into the yard to make room for her inside. I see a few photo shoots with her in it.....wouldn't she make a great prop?

I've had to say goodbye and let go alot these past few weeks, most importantly my dear sweet mum. I don't think clinging to this beauty a bit longer will hurt anyone (unless they throw their back out moving it).

Sorry it's not much of a photo blog this week unless you take into consideration how much attention one photo can get a lot of people talking. Ya, so it is a bit about photography then isn't it?

I'll let you know how the big sale goes next week. I'm off to Toronto to get ready for it. Have a great weekend and if you're in the Toronto area stop by my mom's tomorrow and check out the cool stuff we're selling (except for the pump organ that is).

Peace, love and kumbaya, Heather
