#FrameItFriday (week 19 season 6)

This week I drove to Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa to attend Shifting Perspectives a presentation by 4 of the coolest, badass women photographers ever! Within this quartet is an Order of Canada winner, a Pulitzer Prize winner, with images published on National Geographic covers, stamps, coins, fierce advocates and supporters of many charitable causes, the list goes on and on. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to meet and converse with them in person and to hear their stories as they shared their amazing images. Oh they're also all Nikon Ambassadors (but I won't hold it against them lol) Not dissing Nikon, no, no, no but it all comes back to my motorcycle days Harley vs. Honda. In listening to them speak about their experiences I found that we have a lot in common once you strip down the enviable careers they've created for themselves....the camera, the photo, how you set up the shot, how sporadic was the shot, where they took the shot. Behind the scenes videos and stills opened my eyes to some ideas, motivated me and admiration for the dedication to the art of taking the photograph. I want to throw "down to earth" in here somewhere, now seems like a good time. Literally and figuratively speaking. Like, on your belly on a rocky beach (with a bad back), swooped up from the sidelines by a receiver shooting the Super Bowl, making your dog sit on a rocky shoreline for the shot, rescuing cats, dogs, horses etc. etc. all for "the shot". My perspective needed shifting, meeting these gals and listening to them speak gave me some new motivation and ideas. It was just what I needed. We're all the same in so many ways with our love for photography except they wander further than I do and I shoot with my Canon lol. Thanks for inspiring me ladies! From L-R: Tamara Lackey Photography, Viktoria Haack Photography, Deanne Fitzmaurice Photography If you're in Ottawa any time soon, check out the Wolf Exhibit at the Museum on Nature. Michelle went to tremendous lengths to get the images you see on display. Note to local mosquitoes and black flies....please die soon. It's tricky taking shots through a bug vest and sitting in your car. Happy May 2-4 folks, have a safe one! Peace, love and kumbaya, Heather
