It's a "double click and zoom" kind of week and shot here today. As 3rd winter temps fluctuate, the winds sort of die down, we hope and pray for no more snow. That's it Winter don't let the door hit you in the arse when you leave, go already will ya? This ain't a joke, it's April Fools day and I'd forgotten. This morning Paul said "I think those crane things are back in the pond" He knows their correct name it's just that he got a tad flustered because he was April Fools-ing me and I fell for it. Usually my spidey sense tingles when I'm being pranked but I hadn't had my coffee yet and forgot to switch it on.
So, we're hoping to woo this Merganser couple to nest along our creek or our pond. So far my husband got some fabulous shots of them last week as they paddled and dined for over an hour. Where was I? Getting cheesy bread down the road at the cheese factory. Camera went along with me. By the time I got home, Paul had taken over 100 shots and I slinked as quietly as I could in their direction but by the time I had my camera raised they were making a beeline upstream. I couldn't get a clean shot. I blew it, I had a bright red hoodie on (that didn't help) I must have looked like an solar eclipse sneaking towards them. A day or so later as we rounded the corner to our house I snagged a quick shot of them paddling down our creek towards our pond again! SO, fingers crossed they decide to try and co-habitate with us here. The picture pretty much sums up how tricky they are to spot, if you double click and zoom they're in about the middle of the image.
If they nest, we're going to have to name them.......or do we? I've already forgotten the name I gave to our pond turtle and our green heron....maybe I need to make name tags for them lol.
Have a great weekend and if the weather doesn't suck, get out and see all the wildlife, it's great, they're beginning to show off to attract mates. It can be comical if you can sneak up and spy on them.
