    #FrameItFriday (week 26 season 5)

#FrameItFriday (week 26 season 5) After checking "the weather" a mind numbing trillion times (apparently it's a Canadian's favourite app)we finally said "*uck it" and headed out for another paddle. Being that we have an annual provincial park pass we decided to head over to Sharbot Lake Provincial Park and test the waters there. Just as we pulled up to the launch to take the yaks off the racks 3 juvenile loons paraded by, our triple sign of hope. I broke into a little shoreli

    #FrameItFriday (week 25 season 5)

#FrameItFriday (week 25 season 5) Finally, finally, finally met up with a Merganser family this past week. It was not a planned shoot, it all began with this family hiding out along the shore in the shrubs on the lake we were paddling on. They startled the heck out of me when they panic escaped into the waters ahead of me. After a frenzy of "walking on water" up the lake a bit with her 7 cotton ball babies they eventually settled on to mom's back (that epic shot I've dreamed

    #FrameItFriday (week 23 season 5)

#FrameItFriday (week 23 season 5) Well, for two weeks a portion of our patio was off limits as a pair of Robins set up their nursery in one of our planters. Initially 5 blue eggs were laid in this surprisingly tiny but tidy nest. 4 yellow beaks eventually appeared and for pretty much 2 weeks straight their bright yellow beaks pointed skyward for non-stop all you can eat fly by feedings. The airways around our house are congested with takeoffs and landings from dawn til dusk.

    #FrameItFriday (week 22 season 5)

#FrameItFriday (week 22 season 5) Flying the coop, getting out of dodge, down time, me time, quiet time, whatever you want to call it. Cover your ears, pull the blanket over your head and snuggle deeper into your bed, tune out the world, sit on a rock on the shores of a calm lake, lay on the moss and look up at the sky, night or day. Alone. Escape. Take deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth. Stare at the wall, stare out the window, stare at the horizon

    #FrameItFriday (week 21 season 5)

#FrameItFriday (week 21 season 5) We put the furnace back on this past week, just for a couple of hours, not a minute longer because if I see that propane truck pull in our driveway one.more.time.Imma.gonna.lose.it. Love Canada but holy my moley, the weather pattern is just stupid crazy like a bad ugly paisley fabric. Happy May 2-4 folks! What are you getting up to this weekend? Big, HUGE plans this weekend for us, we're going to a plant sale in town Saturday morning and hope

    #FrameItFriday (week 20 season 5)

#FrameItFriday (week 20 season 5) OMG they're back and so are all the fancy designer bug duds! In the photo I am modelling a fine outfit one must don in order to get from the house to the car. It's actually worn when you're wearing long sleeves and trousers and high rubber boots. I swear someone hit a switch somewhere that woke the super annoying black flies or whatever the heck they're called. It's supposed to be a scorcher today so shorts are on, t-shirt and only if I have

    #FrameItFriday (week 38 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 38 season 4) We took advantage of the great weather yesterday and ventured out for a paddle along the Moira River yesterday. "Apparently" according the weather folks, the next few days are going to be stellar for sunshine and heat. In Ontario that is, I'm not sure about elsewhere. I sure hope they're correct because I want to get back out there again. We went from our place downstream to the first bridge (which means absolutely nothing to you unless you k

    #FrameItFriday (week 35 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 35 season 4) Well how the heck is everyone doing? What are YOUR tricks to keep cool? I'll go first.....yesterday we planned to hit the beach and I had found a new to me location that was sweet. I parked the car, we walked to the shoreline, I dropped my towel in the sand and walked directly into the cool, refreshing waters of Lake Ontario. I brought a bathing suit but there simply was not enough time to change into it. I went in fully clothed and I could c

#FrameItFriday (week 34 season 4) Yep, just like the photo....I'm so excited I may almost pee my pants! Not to worry, I won't (phew) but I am excited! Why? Oh I'm FINALLY going to shoot some live music and that's happening tonight! Where? At the Northumberland Rocks Back festival proudly repping for the first time ever for Sound Check Entertainment (no pressure). Last live music I shot was at the Sanderson Centre for Meghan Patrick, it was Friday, March 13th, 2020 and pretty

    #FrameItFriday (week 33 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 33 season 4) I fell down the rabbit hole this past week. Not a real one but the virtual one. Have you ever done that? I've been researching ideas for shoots, googling specific words and the motherhood of images and ideas and websites popped up before my eyes. It sure makes the adrenaline flow. I kid you not, I am surrounded by cool locations, I am gathering some sweet props (yes MORE), costumes and I have a gazillion ideas for poses.....now I just need "

    #FrameItFriday (week 32 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 32 season 4) Well another week, another blog. I've found that unless I plan for it, my camera has taken a back seat to life around here. The 16 tomato plants I ambitiously crammed in to our sweet raised garden beds have turned in to a jungle. I'll be cutting back on that nonsense next year. There's a gazillion of those cherry tomatoes that ripen daily which is cool but the beefsteak ones are the ones I seriously want to put to the taste test but they're s

#FrameItFriday (week 31 season 4) Well, let's jump back a bit for a second now shall we? This time last year here's 3 things I never in a million years would have thought would happen: 1) Moving to the country B) Camping with my kids iii) All of us reading around a campfire on a rainy day Never say never I suppose. What a fantastic 3 day adventure I had with my kids and daughter-in-law last weekend. I didn't really give too much thought about how we'd get to our destinatio

#FrameItFriday (week 30 season 4) WHAT is going on here? Well, the orange and banana yaks are going on an adventure with Kiddo's canoe (not shown). After 40 or so years (for me), me and my kids are going camping! Ok I did a sleepover with my son when he was in Beavers YEARS ago and we slept over on the field at the Skydome, that was cool but the only animals were the 1,000s of beavers. This time we're paddling some lakes, portaging a bit (I'll let you know what a "bit" is whe

    #FrameItFriday (week 29 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 29 season 4) It's pretty noisy around here today, some of our trees are receiving a much deserved mani/pedi. Some we are taking down all together (those annoying Manitoba Maples). They were using our barn/garage as a crutch and well that won't do. The roof needs some attention, now we'll be able to see just how much work it needs. The angle of the photo I took makes it look like the barn is about to topple over, it's old and a tad rickety but it's got goo

    #FrameItFriday (week 28 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 28 season 4) This is the oddest July I have experienced in a long time, so, much rain! I mean rain is good, it helps fill the well, fill the pond, overflow the flowerpots and drown the gardens. Being housebound due to the monsoons we've been experiencing has forced me to focus on the closets around our home that had stuff flung into them from our move. No photography, just re-organizing. In homes pushing 143 years old you discover the odd things that need

    #FrameItFriday (week 27 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 27 season 4) Last Sunday morning was insane around our house, specifically out the back. It began by seeing but mostly hearing this little dude, freshly fledged. In fact I believe that the occupants of any and all active bird nests within a 1km radius of our place decided to fledge early that morning. All the newbie pilots decided to sputter and flutter to the nearest thing that they could land on. This little cutie chose our deck. The trees were alive wi

#FrameItFriday (week 26 season 4) "Hop on, there's room." Goals. For me as a photographer one shot on my bucket list was a frog on a lily pad. Got it finally! I'm gradually getting my shoot and paddle skills in sync. I had the whole winter off, kind of tricky to train when you're in the great white north and the frogs hibernate and the waters freeze over. I might add my kayak will not fit in our bathtub. Ha. Ha. It's surprising the amount of wildlife that lurks in the greens

    #FrameItFriday (week 25 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 25 season 4) I told my family that I'm trying to do better at keeping track of the days of the week. Acknowledging the fact that it's the weekend and stuff like that. Not to worry, I won't take it as far as putting on "days of the week" underwear to track the days though, nah I'll just check my phone or iPad. I'd ask that google home thing we've got but she doesn't play well with our internet. She keeps on making some excuse like "I can't do that right n

    #FrameItFriday (week 24 season 4)

#FrameItFriday (week 24 season 4) Some mornings you just wake up and hit the ground running, that would be today. My walking buddy came up with a great idea for our daily walks: let's avoid the trails and the mesh hoods and walk the road right outside our front door instead. For the most part we've come back from our new walk route with far less blood donations and we free up the rest of our day for other things such as chores. Having not ever seriously tried to grow vegetabl

#FrameItFriday (week 23 season 4) Discovering and learning lots about "shtuff" here in the country. An example would be: learned a new shortcut to the hardware store that takes me past a pond that had two great white herons or egrets. Not sure exactly what they are but when I post the image I'll be sure and ask all you bird nerd buddies here. I was hoping it was a nesting pair and was without camera (of course) when I first spotted the pair. On my second trip to the hardware
